Imagine that you are struggling to sleep, you remember those hazy days when you could lie in bed all day long without a struggle, whereas now you seem to wake up disturbed at various times during the night. Rabbit Hole Alert: The time that you wake up during the night does have significance check out my podcast The Cauldron of Curiosities to hear why this happens.
You may have started a sleep diary – dear diary reports that you are getting less than 6 hours unbroken sleep. You might be using a sleep app which also tells you that you could change a few habits.
Feedback
My case studies all reported one effect of having sound therapy – it improved their sleep. They reported that they found it easy to fall asleep.
The Benefits of Sleep
Why does sleep matter so much? In layman’s terms sleep is the time that your body has the time and energy to start repair and renewing cells. This is one of the reasons that we should avoid eating late or just before bed, because we are diverting the bodies ‘workforce energy’ to the stomach, when it should be focused on its repair nightshift.
Research has found that those who frequently get fewer than six hours a night are at significantly increased risk of stroke and heart disease. Evidence suggests that not sleeping enough may ramp up the ‘fight or flight’ response to stress, releasing hormones that speed up heart rate and raise blood pressure (Grandner, 2016)

How does sound help sleep?
What is clear from recent research is that humans find different noises helpful, it is a marmite situation with specific sounds. Allowing the individual to choose the noise they listen to also has an impact on its efficacy (Gordon and Marshall,2023). At Suara Sound we use the artists impression of the Solfeggio Frequencies to guide the client to select the sound they are drawn to. There are lots of elements to consider here, it might help to focus on the dual benefits of using the solfeggio frequencies as a means of sleep aid, as both the sleep quality and the sound frequencies can aid in the cells repairing themselves. There continues to be research on how DNA can be affected by sound and other non-chemical interactions. Amazing don’t you think.

What are the Solfeggio Frequencies?
The Solfeggio Frequencies are specific tones of sound that are believed to promote various aspects of body and mind health. These frequencies are thought to date back to ancient times and are said to be fundamental sounds used in both Western Christianity and Eastern Indian religions, chanted by Gregorian monks and in ancient Indian Sanskrit chants (Solfeggio Guide,2019). Physician and researcher Dr. Joseph Puleo rediscovered the Solfeggio frequencies in the 1970s, bringing their benefits back into public awareness. Through his research, he used mathematical numeral reduction to identify six measurable tones that help bring the body back into balance and aid in healing (Alatheia, 2023). These Solfeggio frequencies are believed to profoundly affect the conscious and subconscious mind, stimulating healing and promoting vitality. Thanks to Puleo’s work and the renewed interest, many scientists have since found more evidence supporting the positive effects these frequencies have on the human body (McKenzie,2025).
Is there any science behind sound therapy and Solfeggio Frequencies?
A Biochemist named Dr. Glen Rein, conducted a study in 1988 where he played a recording of the Solfeggio scale to DNA test tube samples. The results showed that the sample DNA had an increase of up to 9% in absorbing light. In terms of DNA and genetics, this indicates its ability to heal and repair after previous damage. Dr. Rein conducted a study to evaluate the impact of different types of music on DNA by measuring the rate of UV light absorption—a key indicator of healthy DNA function. The findings revealed that Gregorian chants and Sanskrit mantras increased UV light absorption by 5 to 9 percent, thereby promoting DNA repair. Classical music also showed an increase in UV absorption, though to a lesser extent. Conversely, rock music was found to decrease UV light absorption, resulting in DNA damage. Dr. Rein’s research provided valuable insights into how sound frequencies affect our health and well-being (Muconovic,2023).
